STUDENT RESIDENCY 2017 | Matter of Stuff

Durante la settimana di residenza, 20 studenti provenienti da Università di Design avranno la possibilità di lavorare a Montalcino sul tema del marmo ed in particolare sul riutilizzo degli scarti da lavorazioni con i quali creare oggetti per la tavola.
La giuria, formata da Sofia Steffenoni e Simona Auteri (Matter of Stuff) Alessandro Zambelli (Designer), Moreno Ratti (Marble designer), Creative Chef – Jasper Udink Ten Cate (Chef, Food Design), Studio Irvine (Designer e Ex Creative Director Marsotto Edizioni), Cristina Felici (archeologa), Giovanni Cutolo (Ex Direttore Generale Artemide, Ex Presidente Fondazione ADI Collezione Compasso d’Oro), selezionerà i due migliori progetti, che diventeranno parte della collezione MOS e saranno esposti durante il London Design Festival 2017.
Venerdì 24 marzo 2017, presso OCRA (Complesso di Sant’Agostino – Montalcino), la conferenza pubblica di Giovanni Cutolo precederà la presentazione dei lavori dei partecipanti alla Student Residency, in concomitanza con l’evento di presentazione delle attività del 2017 della Scuola Permanente dell’Abitare.

Matter of Stuff
Studio creativo e collettivo di produttori, fondato nel 2014. Supportato dalla una comunità collaborativa di creativi e artigiani, MOS può realizzare e curare lavori unici e edizioni contaminate da design, architettura e artigianato, in pezzi unici, installazioni o spazi di interni. Le cofondatrici Simona Auteri e Sofia Steffenoni coordinano una comunità di designer, falegnami, ceramisti, fabbri, marmisti, fotografi e film maker, con lo scopo di promuovere una cultura dove l’artigianato è alla base di ogni creazione. Il lavoro di Matter of Stuff si espande tra design, artigianato, architettura, comunicazione e arte, ma non si riduce in nessuna delle categorie. I prodotti sviluppati da Matter of Stuff combinano le ultime tecnologie con artigianato tradizionale, stimolando e rinvigorendo l’immaginazione collettiva. Tramite un programma di residenze, MOS promuove lo scambio tra il mondo della produzione e quello del design; e con workshop specifici, lavora con Università per facilitare le relazioni tra studenti di design e il mondo della produzione.

STUDENT RESIDENCY 2017 | Matter of Stuff

During the one-week residential course, 20 students from the University of Design have the opportunity to work in Montalcino on the theme of marble and, in particular, on the reuse of processing waste with which they can create table objects.
The jury, the members of which are Sofia Steffenoni and Simona Auteri (Matter of Stuff), Alessandro Zambelli (designer), Moreno Ratti (marble designer), Creative Chef – Jasper Udink Ten Cate (chef, food designer), Studio Irvine (designer and former creative director of Marsotto Edizioni), Cristina Felici (archaeologist), and Giovanni Cutolo (former General Manager of Artemide, former President of the ADI Foundation Collezione Compasso d’Oro) will select the two best projects, which will be added to the MOS collection and will be exhibited during the London Design Festival 2017.
On Friday, March 24, 2017, Giovanni Cutolo holds a public conference at OCRA (Complex of Sant’Agostino – Montalcino), and then the works of the participants in the Student Residency are presented together with the activities organized by the Permanent School of Living in 2017.

Matter of Stuff
A creative collective production studio founded in 2014. Thanks to the collaboration of a community of creatives and craftsmen, MOS creates unique items for installations or interior spaces and curates unique events about design, architecture and craftsmanship. Its founders Simona Auteri and Sofia Steffenoni coordinate a community of designers, carpenters, potters, blacksmiths, marble workers, photographers and film makers with the aim of promoting a culture where craftsmanship is the basis of creative work. Matter of Stuff deals with design, craftsmanship, architecture, communication and art, but it also goes beyond those categories. The products developed by Matter of Stuff combine the latest technologies with traditional craftsmanship, thus stimulating and fostering collective imagination. Through a programme of residential events, MOS promotes the exchange of ideas between the world of production and the world of design; and through specific workshops, it works with universities to foster relationships between design students and the world of production.
