The convention
The convention Reinhabiting heritage – a project for Grosseto is scheduled for Friday, 30 October 2015. It is part of the workshop with the same name. The convention starts from the assumption that architecture is not a field where architects can act alone, that architecture is first and foremost a collective gesture. The series of lectures, planned together with lecturers from the Faculties of Architecture of Florence and Pescara, aims at explaining “participatory design” to students, designers, citizens and politicians, while making them appreciate its importance and potentials.
This learning and training event is open to students, professionals, politicians, intellectuals, etc., and it is a prerequisite for taking part in the design activities included in the workshop. The speeches will focus on the project for Grosseto, which the charrette is about. There will also be discussion about good practice cases in Italy and abroad where participatory design was the backbone of strategies for the renewal and/or restoration of historical heritage.
