Verona2017
The pavilion of Castle Banfi is a true sensory habitat, a small fertile world from which emerges the complex research carried out by Banfi: not only the story of quality wines, but the story of a centuries-old love for the land, and of the patient and wise work carried out to shape and transform the landscape and its people, and to create the genius loci, the spirit of the place that has inspired the harmony of the Tuscan territory over centuries.

To visit the Banfi stand is to enter an evocative and experiential dimension, a collective, multisensory and ritualistic dimension loaded with emotion.

Two blocks of burnt chestnut wood joined by two trusses: one block is narrow and high, with medieval features, and contains the entrance filter; the other is diametrically opposite to it and has a kitchen, warehouses and a staircase leading to the upper floor, where there are rooms where guests can enjoy different wines while listening to different stories.

Semi-transparent membrane walls run along the longer sides with evocative images on them: hills caressed by the sun, trees shaking in the wind with rain falling on them, and shadows moving between the countryside and the city; smells, noises and lights alternate with each other to immerse visitors in reflections from a wine that has the taste and smell of the Mediterranean vegetation.

Each designed element tells the story of the Tuscan land: the dark colour of the walls is obtained through an ancient Japanese technique for the preservation of wood that is very similar to the technique for toasting barriques; the floor is made of raw iron and the wood is natural untreated larch, as is the wood used to make the wine cases that are sent far away, soaked in essential oil of lentisk and helichrysum, extracted for the occasion.
