expansion of the
middle school buonarroti
cinigiano (gr)1999
The three-storey building of the middle school Buonarroti dated back to the 1930s and was modified with some storeys being added to it in the central part in the 1950s, but it had always had little value and functionality. Given the need to expand the complex in order to adapt the school to the standards provided for by the law, the new project aims to change only the central part by replacing the existing building with a new one of a different type and with a different shape compared to the oldest part of the complex. The project provides for the old part to be maintained and preserved and for its electrical installation and plumbing to be renovated. The new building complex, which also has a compositional function in connection with the redesign of the Cinigiano square, also marks the spatial reference to the countryside.
