epifània. Incorporating
the unexpected
bergamo2023
For the Christmas Design 2023 event in Bergamo, we designed Epiphany by Alias, an ephemeral cloud composed of petals made from production waste materials, arranged around a core that appears to come alive as the day progresses. Suspended near the top of the Porta Sant’Alessandro vault, it hovers in the air, releasing voices, sounds, lights, colors, and images gathered during its journey in an increasingly unpredictable world.

The poetry of a starry sky, a green meadow, the unknown life of the depths, the solidity of the earth, the tranquility of a breeze, or a gentle summer rain are suddenly disrupted by unforeseen scenarios. The result is a three-dimensional object that creates a nebulous atmosphere. A sky to admire from outside the portico, but also to traverse with an upward glance.

At the first light of dawn, the cloud reveals itself through its formal and sculptural presence. Small movements affect the petals, which float in the air, emitting original voices and sounds, occasionally surprising. As the light of winter days fades, Epiphany recounts the four elements: AIR, FIRE, EARTH, WATER. Immutable and dramatic.

All around, the Plural Fairy Tales by Giorgio Milesi escape in nonsensical fashion, arriving on the tables of bars and restaurants in Piazza Vecchia, imprinted on fragments of the cloud. On the front, the text describing it, on the back, the 160 fairy tales silk-screened with sympathetic ink, visible only in special environmental conditions. Unique and rare artisanal fabric pieces to take away and preserve as small works of art.
