Transforming urban spaces into places for relationship is all the more necessary, but for a public place to come to life, there needs to be a project that structures it and determines how people should move in it, while identifying relationship systems, urban services that encourage social aggregation and, above all, elements that make it fit in the context.

Ponteranica needs an urban garden. Gardens are particularly meaningful for buildings, even more so for cities. A project about the landscape, where public greenery should not be a mere decoration, as architecture should be part of it, not the other way around. The garden should be accessible by everyone as a service for citizens just like a library or a gymnasium, which should possibly be immersed in it. To change a street and a trafficable square into a square means to make them become elements of the urban landscape by limiting vehicular traffic to improve pedestrian traffic.

Landscape is the – non-passive – container of a community and its identity, its history, its distinctive features, its needs and aspirations. It is the “place” where environmental, cultural, economic and social phenomena and issues interact, where we store our memory, the memory of our times.
