We immediately thought of a compact closed rectangular shape with playful elements. Our aim was to create a sort of modern “fort” with a lifting effect making the base seem light, as if it was taking off like a sort of large spaceship.

After we decided in favour of the compact and closed form, we wanted to dig a “soft” entrance element, like a “maternal womb” being the entrance to the mysterious spaceship. The generating line of this small entrance courtyard, which should obviously be curved and sinuous, would have consequently propagated its rhythm inside the school, thus conveying a feeling of warmth and welcome to the layout of the rooms.

As a further consequence of and reaction to this inner wave, some elements were detached following the movement from the inside to the outside, while still being attached to the compact perimeter of the rectangle.
